Leisure Painter December 2009.
Painting ducks. This article explores turning sketches into simple watercolours then in turn creating a picture of ducks in the snow, using watercolour and gouache, suitable to make cards for this time of year.

Painting a street scene. In this issue I show you how to sketch and draw people then how to tackle a busy street scene using watercolour. This is the type of subject which appears in my new book 'How to paint Water Colour Washes' availalble now.

This month I showed you how to create some very detailed hedgerow studies which included blackberries, hips and leaf studies. A great subject for this time of year when the nights draw in and we want to be indoors by the fire.

Start Art Autumn 2009
Acrylics for the beginner. This magazine (available in WH Smiths) is perfect for the beginner. My article explains how to get started with Acrylics then after showing some basic techniques, I provide a step by step demo of  houses and boats reflected in water. The scene is Weymouth Harbour and is very simple to do. I provide a large photo to work from and all th stages are demonstrated.

Leisure Painter September 2009
This is a lovely article painting boats in Port Isaac using Acrylics. It caused the most interest with many readers emailing their paintings for my comments. I supplied photos to work from and set a project to do. The techniques were really simple and achievable.

Leisure Painter August 2009
Using pastels to paint Flatfod Mill in Suffolk. I demonstrated how to use different papers to achieve different results and created a step by step picture. One of the paintings was a circular format which is a challenge.

This month I used photographs of children on the beach and demonstrated how to create paintings fro them using water-soluble pencils. This is a marvelous medium for sketching and drawing then adding the water later produces some surprising results.

Using watercolour wet into wet, this article is all about suggesting flowers and foliage by moving the paint around. Its a fun approach to painting which is all about letting the watercolour do the work for you.

Fabulous spring butterflies using watercolour, this article gets you using watercolour lovely and wet and encourages you to use Acrylic inks in this way too. I explain about ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) and show you examples of my own on my TUITION page, just follow the links.

Drawing and sketching our pets. This is a lovely article using pencils, pastels, and suggesting you use Oil Pastels too. There are cats and dogs using various simple techniques.

This month focuses on using Oil Pastels or Acrylics. The subjects are crocus and anemonies and I cover various techniques including scfaffito which is very exciting. A project is set with reference photos available to download from the TUITION page to get you started.

Homage to Homer. Inspired by Winslow Homer, watercolours from the Carribean. Showing how this artist inspired me to paint in a similar way whilst on holiday. There is a link on the TUITION page to some of Winslow Homers paintings as discussed in this feature.
