Outdoor Painting Days

Painting outdoors can be a wonderful experience, especially within the security of a group. Our groups are small, up to 16 painters with the added advantage of having two tutors. (Fiona Peart and Terry Harrison) You can either choose one tutor for the day, or split your time between the two of us, its your choice. Terry Harrison in StantonDont worry if you hav'nt painted oudoors before, we are there to help you throughout the day.

What you can expect from an outdoor painting day
Tuition is between 10 am - 4 pm, but we ask you to arrive at about 9.30 in Stanton Village. We begin by selecting our painting subject and start with a demonstration. Terry and I demonstrate things from start to finish explaining what to do, when to do it and the best way of achieving certain results. We choose a subject that you are likely to paint yourself, although you may of course choose to paint any subject you see. Terry and I will both demonstrate, enabling you to watch two different demos, after which you can join either Tutor. You will be clearly shown how to tackle your painting with structured tuition, stage by stage guidance and individual support as we paint with you throughout the day. There is a short break for lunch after which we continue with our paintings. I shall be specialising in Pen and Wash techniques, concentrating on drawing skills, pen use and light washes. Terry specialises in creating textures using watercolour and is known for his various lanscape skills. Between the two of us you will have a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw on.Terry Harrisons - Thatched Cottage

FacilitiesStanton Village
We have the use of this lovely hall (right) with kitchen and washroom facilities for the day. There will be a number of art materials available to purchase including brushes, paints and paper, all at very competative prices.

If the weather is poor...
No one can predict what the weather will be like on the day, so if it is not possible to paint outdoors we shall work indoors. The day would then become structured with the use of photographic reference material using subjects in the village. There will be step-by-step demonstrations throughout the day by both of us.

What you will need to bring with you
You will need to bring a folding chair and your painting materials. (you will receive a suggested list of Cottages - Pen and Washmaterials after booking)

What you will be provided with
We will provide boards to lean on and water pots.
You will receive a sample pack of 10 sheets of Bockingford and Saunders Waterford paper.
